CompTIA Network+ (N10-009) — Exam Guide & Objectives
CertStudio's Network+ practice is in active development. Below is a complete, up-to-date N10-009 exam guide — and you can get notified the moment prep launches.
What is CompTIA Network+?
CompTIA Network+ is a vendor-neutral networking certification covering wired, wireless, and hybrid infrastructure: how to implement it, operate it, secure it, and troubleshoot it when something breaks.
Network+ is a natural next step alongside or after A+, and it's common groundwork before Security+ — Security+ assumes you already understand networking fundamentals. It's aimed at people moving into network technician, junior network administrator, or NOC roles.

The 5 Network+ domains (N10-009)
Networking Concepts
OSI model, network topologies, cloud concepts, and the fundamental terminology used across the rest of the exam.
Network Implementation
Deploying and configuring wired, wireless, and hybrid network infrastructure.
Network Operations
Monitoring, documentation, business continuity, and the day-to-day operation of a network.
Network Security
Common threats, security concepts, and the controls used to protect network infrastructure.
Network Troubleshooting
A structured troubleshooting methodology plus common connectivity, performance, and hardware issues. The largest domain.
Who should take Network+ / is it worth it?
Network+ is a common target for network technicians, junior network administrators, and NOC (network operations center) staff. It proves you understand infrastructure beyond a single desktop or user — routing, switching, wireless, and the operational side of keeping a network running.
It's worth it if your role touches networking directly, or if you're building toward Security+ and want the networking foundation first. If your work is purely desktop support, A+ alone may cover what you need.

Network+ FAQ
How many questions are on the Network+ N10-009 exam?
Up to 90 questions in 90 minutes, mixing multiple-choice with performance-based questions (PBQs) that ask you to configure or troubleshoot in a simulated environment.
What's the passing score for Network+?
720 on a scale of 100 to 900. It's a scaled score, so it doesn't map directly to a percentage of questions answered correctly.
What are the Network+ N10-009 domains?
Networking Concepts (23%), Network Implementation (20%), Network Operations (19%), Network Security (14%), and Network Troubleshooting (24%). Troubleshooting and Concepts together are nearly half the exam.
Should I take A+ or Network+ first?
A+ is the broader, more entry-level foundation (hardware, OS, support), and many people take it first. Network+ goes deeper on networking specifically. Neither is a formal prerequisite for the other, but A+ → Network+ is a common, logical order.
