Terms of Service
Effective date: July 6, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are the agreement between you and CertStudio LLC ("CertStudio," "we," "us," or "our") for using the CertStudio app, website, and related services (together, the "Service"). We've written them to be as readable as possible, but they are still a binding contract — please read them.
1. Agreeing to These Terms
By creating an account, making a purchase, or simply using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy (which is part of this agreement). If you don't agree with something here, please don't use the Service.
2. Who Can Use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old — or at least 13 with a parent or legal guardian who supervises your use and agrees to these Terms for you. By using the Service, you're confirming that this is true.
3. What the Service Is
CertStudio provides study and exam-preparation materials — flashcards, practice questions, progress tracking, and related tools. Everything is for educational and self-study use, and we may update, expand, or change the content at any time.
4. Your Account
Your account is yours alone. Keep your password private, and understand that you're responsible for everything that happens under your account. Please give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
Don't share, sell, or transfer your account, and don't let anyone else use it. If you think someone else has gotten into your account, let us know right away.
5. What You're Allowed to Do
When you use CertStudio, we give you permission (in legal terms, a "limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license") to use the Service and its content for your own personal study — and nothing more.
The content, software, and materials in the Service belong to CertStudio LLC or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Buying access gives you permission to study with the material; it doesn't give you ownership of any of it.
6. What You're Not Allowed to Do
You agree not to:
- •Copy, share, republish, resell, or redistribute the study content or any other part of the Service.
- •Try to extract, download in bulk, or reverse-engineer the Service's content, data, or code.
- •Share your account or password with anyone else.
- •Use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools to access the Service.
- •Interfere with the Service or try to access parts of it you're not authorized to use.
- •Use the Service for anything illegal or in violation of these Terms.
7. Our Content and Branding
Everything that makes up the Service — the text, graphics, logos, flashcards, questions, software, and the "CertStudio" name and branding — belongs to CertStudio LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of those rights to you.
8. Certification Names and No Affiliation
Certification names, exam titles, and related trademarks (including ISC2®, CISSP®, Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)℠, and any other marks mentioned in the Service) belong to their respective owners. CertStudio is an independent study tool — we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by ISC2 or any other certifying body. We use those names only to describe what our materials help you study for.
9. Purchases and Billing
Some features require payment. The price and what you get for it (for example, a one-time purchase for a set access period, or a recurring subscription) are shown at checkout. By completing a purchase, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge you that amount.
Payments are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. Your card details go directly to Stripe — we never see or store your full card number. Any applicable taxes are your responsibility.
If you buy a recurring subscription, it renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel first. You can cancel at any time, and your access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for.
10. Refunds
You can request a refund within forty-eight (48) hours of a charge — whether it's a one-time purchase or a subscription payment — by submitting a request through the app.
Requests made after the 48-hour window may be declined at our discretion. When we grant a refund, it goes back to the payment method you used.
11. Deleting Your Account
You can request deletion of your account at any time through the app. Once we verify the request, we'll delete your account and personal information within seven (7) business days — except for limited records we're legally required to keep (for tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention reasons).
Deleting your account permanently ends your access to the Service, your content, and your progress. It cannot be undone.
12. Your Privacy
We respect your privacy. We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data, and we use the limited data we collect only to run, protect, and improve the Service — all explained in our Privacy Policy.
A few trusted companies help us run the Service — Supabase (accounts, database, and support requests), Stripe (payments), and Cloudflare (delivery and security) — and they handle certain data on our behalf only as needed to do their jobs.
13. No Guarantee of Exam Results
CertStudio is a study aid — a good one, we hope, but still just a study aid. We can't and don't promise that using it will help you pass any exam, earn any certification, or achieve any particular result. Exam outcomes depend on many things outside our control. Our content may also contain occasional errors, so please don't make it your only source of preparation.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
In plain terms: we work hard on the Service, but we provide it without formal guarantees. Legally, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will always be available, error-free, or secure, or that every defect will be fixed.
15. Limits on Our Liability
This section limits what you can recover from us if something goes wrong, so please read it carefully.
To the maximum extent the law allows, CertStudio LLC, its owners, members, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service.
Also to the maximum extent the law allows, the most we can ever owe you for any claim related to the Service or these Terms is the amount you actually paid us in the twelve (12) months before the event that led to the claim.
Some places don't allow certain of these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
16. Your Responsibility for Misuse
If your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or someone else's rights leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the resulting costs. In legal terms: you agree to indemnify and hold harmless CertStudio LLC and its owners, members, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) that arise from those actions.
17. Changes to the Service and These Terms
We may change, pause, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we make meaningful changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, let you know within the app. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
18. Ending Your Access
We may suspend or close your access to the Service, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe your behavior could harm the Service or other users. If that happens, your permission to use the Service ends immediately. The parts of these Terms that naturally outlast your access — like our ownership of content, the warranty disclaimer, the liability limits, and your responsibility for misuse — continue to apply.
19. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute related to these Terms or the Service will be handled exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, and you consent to those courts' jurisdiction and venue.
Before filing any formal claim, you agree to contact us first and make a good-faith attempt to work it out informally.
20. If Part of These Terms Doesn't Hold Up
If a court finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the complete agreement between you and CertStudio LLC about the Service and replace any earlier agreements.
21. Contact Us
If you have questions about these Terms, please reach out by submitting a support ticket from the Help screen in the app.
